Kaylen's First Prom

Yes, you read that right. Kaylen attended her first Junior/Senior Prom Saturday night. . .with her Daddy. Daddy needed a date, and Avery and I already had plans to hang out with Barney and the Wiggles, so Kaylen was the lucky girl! It comes with the territory of Daddy's job, that Kayley spends a lot of time at high school activities. Pretty much everyone knows her, she has made a lot of high school "friends" who dote on her and she just basks in the glow of their attention. This has always surprised me. She is very shy by nature, and doesn't like to "be in the spotlight" so to speak, but she doesn't seem to mind when it comes to hanging out at whatever event Daddy is attending.

Kaylen was so excited to get all dressed up and she had a great time. Her favorite part was seeing all the girls in their fancy dresses. Kaylen and Daddy got their "prom picture" taken with the fun backdrop and everything. He plans to take her every year, so that by the time she attends her own prom, we will have a picture of them togther every year for over ten years. She didn't want to come home when I went to pick her up around 9:30, and commented on the way home, "I can't wait until next year! I'm going to wear a really fancy dress, like that girl in the pink!!" Ummm, yeah. . . About that dress. Probably not next year. Probably not ever. She was referring to a very risque' strapless, tight pink dress that one of the girls was wearing. Thank goodness we have a long time before she attends her real prom. Hopefully by then the trend will be long sleeved turtleneck dresses.

CUTE pictures! That is so fun that she got to go! You might have to loosen up a little bit though...long sleeved turtleneck dresses are pretty boring!! Wonder how she'll feel if Daddy is still attending prom when she is actually old enough to go? I bet that goes over like a lead balloon!!
